When it comes to filing your taxes, it is always advisable to plan ahead of time. Planning ahead of time will assist you in filing accurate returns and in avoiding processing delays, which also helps eliminate delays in receiving your tax refunds. Now that the tax season for 2022 is underway, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) advises taxpayers to double-check everything before filing. If you are not sure where to start, hiring an experienced IRS attorney is the best way to go. In this blog, we are going to look at some of the top tips for filing your IRS taxes for 2021.

File your returns only when you are ready

Filing your taxes prematurely can just be as bad as filing late. Taxpayers who submit their paperwork before receiving all of the necessary tax reporting documents run the risk of making mistakes, which could cause processing delays or even result in the imposition of penalties. Year-end paperwork usually begins arriving by mail in January. Taxpayers should thoroughly examine the documents, and if any of the information displayed is incorrect or unavailable, they should immediately contact the IRS for a correction or to confirm their current mailing or email address. The whole experience becomes much easier if you seek help from one of the best tax attorneys in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Everyone should file a tax return (even if they are not required) in order to collect tax benefits

Individuals who are not required to file a tax return this season are strongly encouraged to do so if they wish to collect potentially thousands of dollars in tax credits. They can claim the following:

  • Recovery Rebate Credit: To receive any remaining 2021 stimulus payments that they may not have received (for example, if they added a new child or other dependents in 2021),
  • Remaining Child Tax Credit: This includes any monthly payments that they may not have received yet (if they added a new qualifying child in 2021), and
  • The Earned Income Tax Credit, the federal government’s tax credit for families with low to moderate income.

E-file and select direct deposit as your payment method

The IRS encourages people to file electronically and receive their refunds via direct deposit. Most taxpayers receive their refunds in fewer than 21 days when they use e-file and direct deposit. People who don’t have a bank account can go to the FDIC’s website or use the National Credit Union Administration’s Credit Union Locator Tool to identify an institution that allows them to open an account online and get advice on which account to start. An IRS tax attorney is best placed to give you professional assistance with the whole process. Although most refunds are received within 21 days, if the tax return contains errors, is incomplete, or requires an additional security check, the refund may take longer. This year, paper tax returns and refund cheques will take even longer. Consult a tax lawyer in Dallas-Fort Worth to make sure that everything is in order in due time.

Conclusion

IRS tax attorneys are your best friend when looking to navigate the tax code and stay in the good graces of the IRS. I would like to thank Mr. Nick and his staff for the superb help that I received from them. My IRS problem was resolved quickly and efficiently. It took 2 visits to convince me that I was over my head. I thought that I could call the IRS, appeal my tax notices and settle on a payment plan on my own. After many phone calls to the IRS, waiting sometimes more than 4 hours with no resolution to speak of, it proved to be extremely difficult and stressful. Revisiting Mr. Nick was a huge wake up call. My account was reviewed, and a payment plan was established with the IRS within a week. I will be forever grateful to the staff who worked on my case and especially to Lorna who listened to me vent while going through this painful process.

I cannot say enough good things about Nick and his team. When I first met with Nick he was up front, honest, friendly and efficient. When I worked with one of his attorneys, Eric B, I was just as pleased. All of the staff there are nice and very helpful. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get help with my issue. Over 6yrs I tried getting through and getting anywhere with the IRS and hardly made any progress. I know this may not be the case for all, and even I thought it would take longer than it did, but 3mos and they had my situation straightened out. I still can't believe it. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for all that you did for me. This is a huge burden gone out of my life now thanks to you. If anyone needs help out there, I know you may not want to shell out more money to get their help but it may just save you in the long run.

During a time in which competent, professional service at a fair price seems to have disappeared, Mr. Nemeth and his team are a refreshing breath of fresh air. From my first phone call to the final settlement of our case with a non-responsive IRS, they under-promised, over-delivered and were in constant courteous contact to make sure we knew exactly what was happening and where we stood.I hope to never need their services again, but, should I receive another friendly letter from the IRS...I know who to call!
